Jackson will draw on any surface available, which is why I believe (and of course I’m biased) that he is a great artist. He IS art.
As a toddler, while my husband and I tried to sleep, Jackson would draw on our pillow cases around our heads, he drew on the bed ruffle, he drew on the walls, he drew on himself, and of course, he drew on paper.
Now, as a teenager he draws on whiteboards alot. This picture is the recent whiteboard mural in his home office. This section (and I’m sorry for the poor photography on my part) is from a mural of prehistoric religious iconography, a style he invented.
This section of the whiteboard mural shows “St. George and the Dragon” in a prehistoric style and also “God of the Outerspace Orthodoxy” a religion he invented and creates the religious iconography for. He is very inspired by cave drawings and also by Byzantine and Orthodox religious iconography, particularly Greek Orthodox Art. We attend a Greek Orthodox church (even though we are not Greek Orthodox) just so Jackson can spend time gazing at the ceiling murals. He is absolutely mesmerized by the beauty of religious art.
Yesterday he had me erase this mural that had been up for about a year. He said that he would draw something new. So, we bid farewell to this mural and look forward to what is next for this whiteboard!
