Jackson has been drawing since he was 18 months old. Diagnosed with autism at age 4, he has spent many years expressing his inner world through art. He calls his internal world, “My EyeTV” and draws pictures based on what he sees inside his imagination or EyeTV. Recently he told me what it felt like in the time before words when we weren’t sure if he would be able to speak. Here is how he describes that time, “I could not talk but I could draw like crazy.” I agree and I think you will too.
Once I asked him, “How does it feel to have autism?” and he said, “Good. It makes me a great artist.” He adds, “It feels fine to have my own way of brain because the brain of autism is so powerful.”
