On the path to being a working artist–Christmas Art Show

A part of being a “big artist” and a working artist is to have art shows. To that end, Jackson was invited to show his work at a local salon and despite the amount of work this entails, we jumped at the chance to show off Jackson’s work. We are teaching Jackson about the skills needed to be a working artist and one of those skills is to have have gallery shows, to speak about your art in your own words and to have an artist’s statement. So, here is Jackson’s personal statement about his art:

“My name is Jackson and I was born with autism.

I have been an artist since I was 18 months old. Art is a big inspiration to me. As I grew up, I was very focused in art. When I became 10 years old, I was very influenced by Mexican folk art and created a blend of folk art elements known as “Mexican Modern art.” (Jackson created this style himself.) Mexican Modern Art includes folk art from Europe, the Middle East, Latin America and the Pacific Islands.

I have my own website, called JacksonsEyeTV.com.

It was launched on September 26, 2015. My website tells what songs I’ve written, what art I’ve made, and the several languages I’ve created. It also includes the story of how my life was, and my interest of the Olympic Games.

My main goal is to live for infinity. I’d also like to feature my signature style of art in the dome and minarets of a Mosque in St. Petersburg, Russian. I would also like to have a passport so I can travel wherever I want to go.

FInally, I’d like to say that I love art more than anything in the world.”
