I am continually amazed by Jackson’s stated goals to live independently. I am not sure how we will attain them, as he still needs adult supervision in all settings to maintain his safety. This is my upcoming challenge is to address these self-help needs in future school planning meetings and in our home therapeutic program. I am looking into service dogs for my son and think that perhaps getting an autism service dog for him will be a good alternative to having a human attendant following him around everywhere. I am going to start doing more research on this area and will post back when I find some solutions.
